New-vehicle registrations for Japan from the dealers' association (JADA).
Japan's registrations come from JADA (Japan Automobile Dealers Association), which publishes a monthly 燃料別メーカー別登録台数(乗用車) file — registrations by fuel type and manufacturer. Each publication is a rolling four-month rollup; we take the newest month. The XLSX is parsed by preference, the PDF is a fallback layout carrying the same data.
Fuel-cell vehicles (FCV) and その他 are summed into OTHERS.

Every bar is the span actually present in our stored CSV — breaks in a bar are real gaps in the series, not rendering. Cadence is shown on the right.
Whole 2012-01–2026-07 (175 rows). Some rows additionally carry a time_interval of quarterly; the cadence shown is the spacing the periods actually have.
A blank column almost never means "no such cars" — it means this source does not split them out, and those vehicles are counted inside another column. Check the caveats for where they land.
